Learning jQuery

by Justin on May 1, 2010

The last couple of months I’ve been immersed into the world of JavaScript implementing jQuery and Ajax; though it was sometimes frustrating, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have most enjoyed jQuery. It’s a lightweight JavaScript library that emphasizes interaction between JavaScript and HTML which simplifies the creation of animations, communications to server requests, document transversing and event handling. To simplify, it is kick-ass.

Released in January of 2006, jQuery has become the most popular JavaScript library in use today. I plan on using jQuery with a lot of my up and coming projects; it’s so easy to use and even easier to learn.

When I was researching this topic, I wanted to find something new to write about and wanted to share with the class something that I thought would be a great addition and a big help on advancing ourselves into JavaScript. Then I found this little gem. Pro JavaScript Techniques, a book written by the man himself, the creator of jQuery, John Resig. John at a early age already has made a huge impact on the developer community.

So now I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of my recently ordered book.

To conclude, next time you are working with a new project decide to add some jQuery because it will make your site that much more professional, powerful, and down right awesome.
